useAPI! Search:
Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada,
useAPI! Search specializes in technology integration and online marketing.
Powered by Google, SearchTheTail
lets you narrow
the search using Google tail
so that
your search can be guided to search faster and gets more relevant results.
During your search, a Google tail that is a list
of related keywords is added to the classic Google-search-result pages,
and gives you an option to select any search term on the tail that is much more
close to what you have in mind than the initial search query without performing
another search.
The queries that people use daily to
search online are normally followed the frequencies of words used (a few
words are used often - head, lots of words are used infrequently - tail). This query
distribution is approximately governed by
Power law
with
Zipf distribution.
If a query is of a single, two or three word long, it produces a series of
relevant keywords with a head and a tail. The head contains several popular terms while the long tail
consists of many obscure keywords or longer phrases.
Unlike other clustering search engines, the Google
tail here is produced in real time using your search query data, not a
preset word list. For example, “search engine” query produces a list
of over 200 relevant queries that directly come from your search data ranging from general terms such as “search
engine marketing”, “search engine optimization”, “search engine ranking” in the
popular
head to more specific terms such as “pay per click search engines”, “music
search engines”, “people search engine” in the long tail. Since the list
is dynamic, it not only changes with time but also with geographic location.
However, not every search term will produce a
popular head and a long tail. Some queries that are specific enough or
not popular have a head without a tail or just a short tail. In these
cases, the tail will be generated under "more queries to
consider" tag.
SearchTheTail.com is not only helpful and convenient to
many normal search engine users but also to search engine marketers,
optimizers, and site owners.
